An extra layer of protection for your internet banking activities

29 June, 2023

During July, Central West Credit Union will move to enable SMS One Time Passwords (OTP) for ALL members that use internet banking. OTP will enhance the security of your online transactions by providing an additional layer of authentication when logging into internet banking.

Each time you log in to your internet banking you will be prompted to enter the OTP. The OTP is simply generated at login stage where it will generate a 6 digit code via SMS to the mobile number which you have previously provided to CWCU. Once the OTP is entered correctly, you will be granted access to your internet banking account.

The use of an OTP relates only to Internet Banking accessed via a Computer or Laptop.

CWCU Mobile App has its own extra layer of security as the mobile or device being used to access the App requires the use of Bio-metrics: facial recognition or fingerprint ID or a Passcode before being able to access and utilise The exception being that a OTP will be required should you wish to change your PIN via CWCU Mobile App.
