A goal without a plan is just a wish

15 May, 2018
Whether your goals are to pay off your home loan sooner, retire early or go on an overseas holiday every couple of years, there’s a simple and powerful way to improve your chances of achieving them.

Write them down and make a plan*.

That’s right. Research has concluded that people who write down their goals are more likely to succeed.

That’s why, together with our financial planning partner, Bridges Financial Services, we’ve developed the My Goals website to help you do exactly that.

My Goals

The My Goals website allows you to:
  • select from a number of common goals, rate them by importance and set a time frame for achieving them

  • include detailed steps to achieve your goals to help you stay on track add your own goals that are important to you.

Once you’re done, we’ll send your free goals report to you – personalised and prioritised.

The next step – make a plan

Once you have your goals in place, you’ll need to think about how you’ll commit to achieving them. Interestingly, the same research that showed people who write down their goals are more likely to achieve them also showed that those who shared their goals with someone and developed a plan to reach them were even more likely to succeed.

That’s where Bridges comes in. A Bridges financial planner can:
  • help you set your goals if you’re having trouble working out exactly what you want to achieve

  • look at your current financial situation and personal circumstances to see what opportunities you have

  • build a plan with measurable steps

  • help keep you accountable to achieve them.

Your Bridges financial planner will set up regular meetings to make sure you stay on track and help you change tack if your situation changes.

To get started, go to the My Goals website.
